Day 2 of Vocal Rest

I've caught myself over 20 times in the midst of bursting out singing the past couple of days haha. I realize now that singing is just part of me, it brings brightness to my mood, it's just fun. I sang for a few minutes after going out with my cousin and aunts when I got home cause I just really needed to sing. Anyways, I think I'm going to try to rest it a little more because it's still raspy.

Fan Runs on Stage at Miley Cyrus Concert - June 24, 2011

Yeeeaaah that kinda sucked Miley haha. I mean, Justin Bieber got hit with a water bottle and he handled it very well. But Miley was just like OH MA GOD OH MA GOD. Then runs off stage. I wonder what the fan girl felt like when she was forced off stage? How would you react if you were Milers?

Vocal Rest

*Posted from today* Okay now this is the last transfer. :)
Sooo I think I'm gonna go on vocal rest for a day or two. I want my voice to be in tip top health before I continue on with the singing success excercises. Wish me luck! Also, I wish I had more followers... Haha I'm still new to this and haven't much of an idea of how to get more followers, haha.

Singing in the Shower

*Post transferred to this blog, because it was better suited for this blog. :) From Tuesday, June 28, 2011*

So YES I sing in the shower haha! The acoustics make your voice sound better with the echoing and whatnot. So I was singing my usual songs that I like, like My All by Mariah Carey, Ordinary People by John Legend, and Stay the Night by Mariah Carey.

With My All, the melismatic runs were very easily performed which doesn't happen very often. With Ordinary People, I found that it was easier to hit those high mix notes, although it is still challenging to do the bridge. With Stay the Night, I found it very fun to sing since it's a long belting song. My tone sounded like it had improved and resonance in my mouth and nose, which wasn't very controllable before, made a big difference in volume and quality. I felt very proud of myself. Singing felt kind of different. It was much easier to do because of less strain with the high notes.

My First Day with the Singing Success Program!

*Post transferred to this blog, because it was better suited for my journal :)* From Monday, June 27, 2010

Hey! I think I'm gonna be using this part of the blog as a journal for my experience with Brett Manning's Singing Success Program, which you can click here for more info. Long story short, I've been singing for maybe two years (since 10th grade) and I've made progress on my own. However, I've seemed to hit a plateau in my singing skills especially because I have a very weak mix. A mix in your voice is the smoothness in transition from your chest voice to head voice. Because of this challenge and also because I want to be come a "better" singer, I got the program from the website called, "Mastering Mix".

It's actually working pretty well! Since I know the basics of the voice it was easy to understand (if you don't, try the first program they offer) and am showing improvement in extending my range! I can now go to higher belt notes with much less effort and a little higher than before. I have also noticed that my voice sounds more colorful. Or in other words, the tone is richer. I really hope to continue to improve! After all, it's only been one day. Happy singing to me! I will be updating this blog to record more of my progress and also to explain my experience with it. Who knows, maybe you'd like a better singing voice!

Out of Balance Diet

I eat WAY too many Oreos and Taco Bell. Starting tomorrow, which starts in about 14 minutes, I'm going to cut junk food out of my diet! Definitely no oreos and eating out less. I've done this before so I know it's gonna be easy. I just have to get myself into the swing of those kinds of things again. Also, I'm gonna start doing those Cox On Demand fitness excercises when I can. :) Hopefully my mom signs me up for a gym within the next week too. Yay me for taking steps towards becoming more healthy!

In a Blaaah Mood

Summer has not been intense. I've been VERY happy to have not much to do finally. My senior year of high school has been super stressful especially because of being so busy, having no downtime for myself, and having to keep balance with my social, academic, and family life. But with less happenings and having not much to do, I'm at a standstill. Not that I dislike it. I guess it's just uncomfortable.
Occasionally, I have that yearning to accomplish something, to get something done even if there is nothing to tend to, or to just do something productive. I guess it's just a natural instinct to not feel satisfied if you're not being productive. The bad side of this instinct is having that feeling of needing to do something productive, or something that isn't mundane. The good side is that it will motivate you to just get out there and to experience more and to do something of substance.
Eventually, I'll find that something of substance, something that will satisfy that need to do something productive. Maybe I'm just so used to working my ass off in life and I'm just not used to doing nothing. I'm not used to relaxing haha. Well that's all my venting for now. I'll bore you with more later. :)
